“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” — Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)

Faith is often misunderstood as a vague feeling or wishful thinking. But Hebrews 11:1 reminds us that true faith is not flimsy or abstract—it’s substance and evidence. In other words, faith is real. It’s the firm foundation we stand on when the visible world gives us no guarantees.

Think of a seed buried in the soil. You can’t see the roots growing or the leaves beginning to push upward—but you trust the process. You water, you wait, you hope. That’s faith. It's the quiet confidence that what God has promised, He will fulfill, even when nothing around you looks like it.

God invites us to live not by what we see, but by what we believe. This doesn’t mean ignoring reality—it means trusting that God’s reality is bigger than ours. When we face uncertainty, faith anchors us in hope, reminding us that God is already working behind the scenes.

What is something you’re hoping for that you haven’t yet seen? How can you lean into faith today, trusting God’s timing and promises?

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for the gift of faith. When I can’t see the way forward, help me to trust You anyway. Strengthen my heart to believe in Your promises and rest in the hope You give. Amen.
