We all want something in this life we live. Some of us want marriage and family. Some of us want careers and success. Some of us want wealth and fame… But no matter who you are, we all want something. Regardless of what your something is, it can be trying when you are waiting for that something. You will go through the ups and downs, the highs and lows and may even find yourself giving up when it does not arrive by the time you think it should have. So, I challenge you to see that thing you are wanting and waiting for as your new baby. For some it may actually be a baby so this exercise will be easy-peasy for you.
We know that generally it takes about nine months from conception to the birth of your baby. We also know that the time frame is not something we have much control over. Of course, in this day and time doctors can induce labor to initiate the birth at a specified time when they deem it necessary, but for the most part, babies come when they are ready and not a moment sooner.
While this little bundle of love is growing and developing, the family is on standby, trying to patiently wait for the surprised day. Doctors estimate the expected date, plans are made around that date and we wait. But we don’t wait in idle mode, do we? No, certainly not. We are busy preparing for this new life while also living life.
We go about our normal daily routines while also planning and shopping for things the baby will need. Although eager, we are not sitting and watching the mother’s tummy wondering when, when, when. Life continues on while we wait. So why do we not get busy living life when we are wanting the things on our life lists? Everything we desire is the birth and beginning of something. And just as with human birth, all things take time to grow and develop. There is preparation and planning required during the waiting period. Some dreams or desires may be attempted prematurely and will possibly require more to build it up to success. Some dreams and desires may be encouraged to happen sooner than the appointed time. But whatever it is that you are wanting and waiting for, don’t sit idly by staring at the sky expecting it to appear. Get up and keep living, planning and preparing for it knowing it is coming to you. Do your part of the planning, preparation and nurturing. Afterall, it’s your baby, your dream, your desire, your want and it’s coming --- but in God’s timing.
Want it, work for it, plan for it, prepare for it, PRAY about it, and live while waiting for it = your recipe for achieving your life’s want list.
