All of us find ourselves under the dark clouds of discouragement at one time or another. Discouragement hovers over us when we allow negative thoughts to linger in our minds too long. Those thoughts direct your emotions and before you know it, you are standing in total darkness. The funny thing is, we can control our thoughts and therefore redirect our emotions. Regardless of the circumstances that initiated the negative thoughts, you have the ability to either pull the refreshing rain from the dark clouds or to call on the Son to shine on the situation and turn it around in your favor.
These options are true and real and the choice is always our own. You can turn discouragement into encouragement and reassurance in a split second. Pulling the refreshing rain from a dark cloud is simply another way of saying perceive the situation differently. There are always two sides to a situation, so rather than seeing the negative in a situation, look to see what the positives are. If you lose your job, see it as one chapter of your life closing because it’s time to move on to the next and start preparing for the step up. Have a heart to heart with God to seek guidance on where He is moving you and be thankful for the promotion. If a relationship ends, Thank God for releasing you from it and start clearing out the clutter so that your heart and mind are cleansed for the partner who is truly yours. If you receive an unfavorable medical report, thank the good doctor then consult the Healer of healers and believe for the promise with praise and thanksgiving through the process.
Whatever the situation, the way you view it and the way you respond to it is what matters. Your thoughts determine if you will be defeated with discouragement or a victorious conqueror. See every obstacle as an opportunity to prove you are bigger and better than anything that comes against you. Greet it with a smile. Hear all negative words that attempt to diminish your value as a beating drum that drives your ambition and make it your victory song. Grab hold of every disappointment and hurt with both hands then shape it and mold it into whatever dream or aspiration you have because truthfully those disappointments and hurts are your foundation to build upon. They come to make you depend on God and God’s promises. When you are truly dependent on God, your foundation is solid and cannot be shattered. At that point of total dependency, you can achieve all things, for with God, nothing is impossible (Luke 1:37).
Everything in life is mind over matter. How you perceive it is how it will be. What you believe is what you receive. Your mind controls the matter so please always take control over your thoughts and you will overcome the matter.
Philippians 4:8 (NIV) Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
