Meet My Friends; Justice, Mercy, Grace and Favor.

My good friend Grace is always hanging around. She has been with me my entire life. I know you know her or have heard of her but have you truly gotten to know her and the crew? She’s a friend to all. God named Grace as our close friend. See Grace gives us what we don’t deserve in life. None of us are all perfect or deserving of the good things God allows us to have. We have life and experience the beauty of it only because God has given us Grace.

I was watching a motivational seminar with Steve Harvey one afternoon. Mr. Harvey quoted something someone had shared with him. He said, “Justice is when we get what we deserve, Mercy is when you don’t get what you deserve but Grace is different from the two. Grace is when you get what you don’t deserve.” My take from that is if we are punished for the wrongs we do, that is justice. Most have done something wrong at some point in life. Maybe not necessarily on a criminal level, but dishonesty, slander and deceit, these are wrongs also. We may view this as not so serious behavior but each has a level of justice. Then there are times when God does not allow us to suffer the consequences of the wrongs we have done, that is Mercy. Justice and Mercy are our friends as well. These two friends are present to discipline, shape and mold us into better people if we allow them to. When we learn what Justice and Mercy attempt to teach us, Grace can and will reveal her amazing presence. She will stand with you and hold your hand through tough times. She will fight for you and bear the weight of your burdens. She will open doors for you and create opportunities beyond your imagination. Her twin Favor will tame hearts and minds to sway decisions concerning you even when you know nothing about the closed-door meetings. These are friends you cannot live without. Get to know them. Learn the things they come to teach you and be grateful for it all. God is such a loving Father to gift us with friends such as these.
