Riding in the Receiver’s Seat

Some of us are natural givers, we love to give and help others. Most of the time for givers, it is difficult to be on the other side of the equation and be the receiver.  It may be that you are a private person and never share with anyone what is going on in your life.  Or maybe you’ve always been in the position to be the giver, never experienced and never imagined that you would be the other.  Or maybe it’s pride that does not allow you to sit in the receiver seat.

Well life happens to all of us and being in the receiver seat does not devalue any of us.  Riding in the receiver seat builds us up and refines us in areas we may not have recognized needed refining.  There are times that God will sit us down in that seat to encourage our hearts by reminding us that we are not in this life all alone.  Just as He has made our paths cross with someone whom He blesses through us, He also sends others across our path to be a blessing to us

You may experience the loss of a loved one and the words spoken from a friend, neighbor, family member, or colleague may be exactly what helps us to grieve and heal forward. That’s God.  You may be experiencing financial strain, and someone suddenly sends you a gift through Cash App, Zelle or another form of payment without even talking with you to know you are in need.  That’s God.  You may be looking for a new job and someone sends you a job posting saying, ‘Hey this looks like something you would be interested in’ or an advertisement about a position catches your eye. That’s God.  You may be going through a period of depression and someone texts to say, ‘Just checking in to see how things are going with you, Love you’.  All these experiences are whispers and gifts from God sent through those who responded to His voice.  They won’t know the magnitude of what God has done by sending them across your path, they simply know they suddenly wanted to do what was done.  When we are opened to receive it, it’s a two-fold blessing.  We are blessed by the surprised gesture and the giver is blessed through their obedience.

God may place you in the receiver seat to refine a part you or maybe just to remind you that you’re never in this alone.  Whatever the reason, Tis So Sweet to be loved by God, enjoy the ride.
